I teamed up with the creative minds of the Museum of Discovery and Science, including the Programs team, to embark on an exciting project – crafting an immersive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning lab tailored for preschoolers. Inspired by the enchanting world of 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,' our goal was to spark curiosity and exploration in the littlest learners.
My mission centered around bringing this vision to life by designing a captivating logo and color palette for the early childhood sector of the museum. The gear emerged as the perfect symbol, embodying the essence of technology's fundamentals, progress, work, and innovation. Its recognizable shape, reminiscent of flower petals, added a touch of whimsy to the concept.
Collaborating with my dynamic teammates, we brainstormed and iterated, finally landing on the brilliant idea of an eight-pronged gear flower with a stem and leaf. This clever representation embodied the fusion of technology and nature, seamlessly blending the two worlds.
Injecting vibrancy into the design, I opted for friendly and playful colors inspired by nature itself. Picture poppy red petals, sunshine yellow at the heart of the flower, and a lively bright green for the stem and leaf – a palette that not only captured attention but also resonated with the theme of the learning lab.
Delving into the details, I made a deliberate choice to keep the typography in lowercase letters, mirroring the small adventurers who would explore and play in this captivating space. The result? A lively, cohesive design that mirrors the energy and excitement of the preschool STEM learning lab at the Museum of Discovery and Science.
